Course Overview & Audience
The Validator Operations & Node Deployment Workshop is our flagship technical training module, engineered specifically for systems administrators, infrastructure leads, and DevOps engineers preparing to operate validator nodes on the Dime decentralized network.
Operating a high-throughput Proof-of-Stake node requires deep mastery of Linux kernel tuning, non-blocking asynchronous disk I/O, network socket buffers, and resilient hardware security. This workshop bridges theoretical protocol mechanics with real-world datacenter engineering.
What Is Included in the Workshop
Every cohort receives personalized, high-touch instruction with dedicated access to our sandboxed testing clusters:
- 16 Hours of Direct Engineering Instruction: Live pair-debugging, terminal walkthroughs, and architecture teardowns led by senior systems architects.
- Dedicated Sandboxed Cluster Access: Each participant receives access to high-spec bare-metal test machines running NVMe arrays and 10Gbps connectivity.
- Production-Ready Runbook & Ansible Roles: Modular scripts and configuration blueprints for automated provisioning, snapshot synchronization, and log rotation.
- Live Failure Injection Labs: Simulated network partitions, disk saturation events, key rotation drills, and emergency fork recovery procedures.
- Post-Workshop Advisory Session: A 90-minute private follow-up consultation within 30 days of course completion.
Detailed 2-Day Curriculum
Day 1: Bare-Metal Architecture, Kernel Tuning & Storage Layout
- Hardware Sizing Fundamentals: CPU cache line considerations (AMD EPYC vs. Intel Xeon), RAM bandwidth saturation thresholds, and ECC memory timing.
- NVMe Storage Architecture: Configuring raw block devices and ext4/XFS filesystems for high IOPS accounts databases; separating ledger data from accounts index.
- Linux Kernel Optimization: Tuning
sysctl.confparameters (net.core.rmem_max,net.core.wmem_max,vm.swappiness,fs.file-max) to prevent socket drops during slot leadership bursts. - Systemd Service Isolation: Creating hardened service units, process affinity (
taskset), memory limits, and automated restart watchdog loops.
Day 2: Cryptographic Custody, Telemetry & Live Failover Labs
- Key Generation & Role Segregation: Generating and isolating Identity Keypairs, Vote Key accounts, and Authorized Withdrawer keypairs using air-gapped systems.
- Hardware Signer Integration: Configuring remote signer daemons and hardware security modules to safeguard the voting key.
- Prometheus & Grafana Observability: Deploying custom node exporters, tracking slot skip rates, vote latency, memory ballooning, and gossip peer churn.
- Live Fire Drills & Emergency Protocols: Simulating node hard-lockups, testing vote account migration, and practicing clean restart procedures without duplicate voting.
Prerequisites & Preparation
To maximize value from this workshop, participants should have:
- Working proficiency with the Linux command line (Ubuntu / Debian).
- Familiarity with SSH key authentication, systemd, and basic networking concepts (TCP/UDP, firewall rules).
- A workstation capable of running SSH and video screen sharing.
Transparent Fee & Booking Terms
- Team Tuition: $1,850 USD (covers up to 4 engineers from the same organization).
- Individual Participant Option: $650 USD (scheduled during open community cohorts).
- Location: Interactive live streaming via dedicated secure room, or in-person at our training facility at Office 6, 64 Sample Road, Pattaya 00000.
